................SPAY/NEUTER ORDINANCE FOR CLARK COUNTY NEVADA............
In an effort to reduce unwanted pets, on November 15, 2005, the Clark County Board of Commissioners signed into law an ordinance amendment to Title 10.08 that regulates the owner-ship of unsterilized dogs and cats to prohibit the sale of cats or dogs without a pet dog or pet cat fancier's permit.
Because of the change in this ordinance, an owner of any unsterilized animal in violation of Title 10 may be cited.
This amendment also mandates that each unsterilized animal be implanted with a microchip device which number must be provided to Animal Control.
This law was written to target those animal owners who are causing the problems. Now, unsterilized animal owners in violation of this ordinance will have to obtain a Pet Dog or Pet Cat Fancier Permit and comply with all the requirements, including actively showing their pet(s).
The ordinance also provides a recourse to the purchaser of a pet by requiring the breeder to comply with provisions of Section 10.30, Minimum Standards for Professional Animal Care Facilities. In order to sell any dog or cat, Title 10.08 also requires a Pet Dog or Pet Cat Fanciers Permit Number be included in any advertising as well as on the sales receipt.
